This bear is not totally my invention. I based it on a brilliant design that was actually first drawn in the 1960s and appeared on an album cover of San Fransico rock band the Grateful Dead. The original artwork is fantastic, but this simplified version is pretty good too.
Start with five elipses as shown above.Then colour them in.
You can see the shape of the bears head clearly now, so all we need to do is add features...
I added eyes, nose and mouth in black...
And then added white highlights to the eyes and nose and some brown shading on the ears. I like this bear because he is very simple to draw and looks very happy.
